ABSTRACT
Objective To study the in-vitro anti-tumor activities of physalin B (PhB) extracted from Physalis angulata L.. Methods Th e effect of PhB on the cell proliferation and the morphology changes of tumor cell strains HepG2 and SGC7901 was observed by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay and by phase contrast microscopy respectively, and the results were compared to positive control anti-cancer drug hydroxycamptothecine (HCTP) . Apoptosis of HepG2 and SGC7901 cells induced by PhB was determined by 4’ , 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole ( DAPI) staining method. Results MTT results showed that the growth of HepG2 and SGC7901 was significantly inhibited by PhB in dose-and time-dependent manner, and the inhibitory effect of high concentration of PhB was better than the positive control medicine HCTP. Phase contrast microscopy results showed that the cellular morphology was improved by PhB, which was accorded with the results showed by MTT assay. DAPI staining results showed that the apoptosis of HepG2 and SGC7901 was enhanced by PhB. Conclusion PhB extracted from Physalis pubescens L. exerts certain inhibitory effect on the proliferation of HepG2 and SGC7901 cells.

Suicide - gene therapy is now regarded as a new method for tumor with good prospect. Since bystander effect is the main mechanism and is positively correlated with the immune function, stimulating the immune function of tumor carriers and improving the inflammatory microimmune situation are two important keys to good therapeutic effect. As it is known that Chinese herbal medicine is effective in improving human immune function and has less toxic effect, therefore, suicide - gene therapy combined with Chinese herbal medicine may be a new, safe and economic regimen for tumor.

Objective To observe the anti-tumor action of Fuzheng Yuliu Tablet(FYT).Methods Mice received subcutaneous injection of S180 into right axilla.Then the tumor-implanted mice were randomized into 6 groups: model group,FYT groups(at the dose of 2.4 and 12.4g/kg respectively),cisplatin group(at the dose of 8?g/d),and cisplatin+FYT groups.The treatment lasted 10 days.The tumor-inhibitory rate and the life-prolongation rate were observed after treatment.The cultured ovarian cancer cell strains of SKOV3 were randomized into 4 groups:model group,two FYT groups and cisplatin group.Apoptosis of SKOV3 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)after culturing with the medicine for 48 hours.Results The tumor growth was inhibited to different extends in all of the treatment groups,the decrease of tumor mass weight was obvious in cisplatin group and FYT groups,and the body weight was increased in FYT groups and cisplatin+FYT groups(P
